Salon History/Intro

Hi! My name is Julie Russell, and I am the owner and operator of A Visual Impact Hair Studio. My Beauty Salon was born on October 2, 2001, in a tiny room in the back of a women’s only gym, "The Fitness Network." Nine months later, in June of 2002, I expanded the Salon and added another stylist. This is when Judy McPeters came to work with me.

We moved and expanded the Salon in March of 2005, increasing our Stations to four, along with a private Facial and Waxing Room. Upon acquiring the Salon, Robin Reeves was added to our team, In Dec. 2006 she left the salon, she is currently pursuing a career in Real Estate, we all miss her.

In September of 2005 we added two more Stations for a total of six, and another stylist, Dianna Boyer.

In March of 2007 our Salon underwent a complete remodel. We are so happy with the new clean and fresh look.

We have added to our staff Linda Laiben, Jodie Nash and Marion Shurtliff in 2007.

It can certainly be A Visual Impact when you get a new style, whether it be curls, color, or a new cut, thus A Visual Impact was born, and created taking Baby steps. Something that people do not know about the name of the Salon is: It was a Visual Impact on my husband that brought me to Crystal City. His sight was diminishing due to his Diabetes and so I felt the need to work closer to home. My husband Don passed away in April of 2005.

Our Salon is Open Tuesday thru Saturday. We start at 9AM and close when the last appointment is completely happy. When you call you will either speak to one of our staff, or our voicemail system, that will direct you to either our main mailbox or your own personal stylist/estheticians mailbox. Should you call during business hours and get our voicemail, it is more than likely because both of our phone lines were active when you called. Please leave a message or call back, whichever is more convenient for you.

We would like to take this opportunity to invite you into our Salon! Come by, meet us, have a cup of coffee, and ask any questions you may have. Our staff is trained to be exceptional listeners and are updated on the latest styles and trends for the whole family.

Julie graduated from The American School of Cosmetology; has been a Licensed Cosmetologist for over 20 yrs, District Manager and Hair Show Coordinator for Tressa, Inc. for 4 years. Julie is on the Tressa's Education Team for 13 year years and was promoted in February 2007 to Key Market Trainer. She is a Group Facilitator for the Look Good Feel Better Program, Volunteer for the American Cancer Society for 9 years, and Team Captain of Joyce's Joggers at the Relay for Life American Cancer Society fundraisers for 6 years. She has owned and Operated A Visual Impact Hair Studio for 7 years.

Now she is a successful business owner for 5 years.

Proprietor/ Master Colorist

Judy has been a hairstylist since 1961, and is a former co-owner of "The Total Look Hair Styling" salon for 18 years. Her partner was her best friend, & they're still friends today!

As an educator for Scruples Hair Products for 3 years, Judy has done education work in the profession. This has given her a lot of good training in coloring & perming.

A personal message from Judy: "I have had some of the same ladies as customers since 1975. A lot of wonderful life's experiences can be learned being around people that many years. I love my work & plan on working for a long, long time to come."

Judy is in the salon Wednesdays thru Saturdays.

Dianna is a People Pleaser. She has been in the beauty industry for numerous years. She specializes in precision haircutting, and also is excellent at creative styling.

She pays close attention to Detail along with making sure she and her client are on the same page before performing any hair service.

She is in the salon Tuesdays thru Saturdays. She is a original person, and takes the clients needs to heart. She is wonderful with Natural Curly hair, since she has a great head of it herself.We look forward to having her at A Visual Impact for many years to come.
